I’m honored to serve as the State Representative for Missouri’s 155th District, representing Douglas, Ozark, southern Stone, and Taney Counties. For the past two years, I have had the privilege of standing up for the people, families, small businesses, schools, and rural communities that make this part of Missouri home.

I was born in Houston, Missouri, and raised right here in the Ozarks. I completed my primary and secondary education in Ozark and Douglas County and graduated from Ava High School. After high school, I earned an Associate degree in Legal Studies and a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Drury University. I later earned my Doctor of Jurisprudence from Mitchell Hamline School of Law.

Before entering public office, I served in the United States Air Force from 2010 to 2014 as a Tactical Aircraft Journeyman and Dedicated Crew Chief. During my service, I was honored to receive the Air Force Achievement Medal. My time in the military shaped my commitment to service, accountability, and leadership.

My professional background includes experience as a probation officer, law clerk, business professional, executive leader, Missouri small business owner, and attorney. In 2024, I opened my own private law practice, focusing on business and education law, where I continue to serve clients today.

I am also proud to be involved with several organizations, including the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, the Missouri Bar Association, the Minnesota Bar Association, the American Legion, the NRA, and the Ava Chamber of Commerce.

More than anything, I am a husband, father, and neighbor. My wife, Jessica, is a former educator, and together we are raising our five children, Lyla, Josephine, Adalynn, William, and Jackson, in Ava, Missouri.

My roots are here. My family is here. And my commitment is to serve the people of District 155 with honesty, hard work, and a strong voice for rural Missouri.

Hi, I’m Matthew Overcast.

My Approach

My approach is simple: listen first, work hard, and stay rooted in the values of the people I serve.

As your State Representative, I believe public service should be practical, accessible, and accountable. The best solutions do not come from politics as usual; they come from listening to families, business owners, educators, farmers, veterans, and local leaders who understand the real needs of our communities.

I bring my experience as a veteran, attorney, small-business owner, husband, and father to every decision I make. Whether I am working on legislation, helping a constituent navigate a concern, or advocating for rural Missouri in Jefferson City, my goal is to represent District 155 with integrity, common sense, and a commitment to protecting the freedoms and opportunities that matter most to our families.
